A topical imidazole antifungal widely used to treat localized fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot, ringworm, and vaginal yeast infections. It inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, disrupting the fungal cell membrane. Due to its low systemic absorption, it is very safe and highly effective for superficial infections.
